Destination
Stirling sits at the geographical and cultural crossroads of Scotland, historically a gateway between the Highlands and Lowlands, and today a natural gathering point for students from across Scotland, the UK, and around the world. Known for its castle, natural beauty, and central location, it is a historic university city with a distinctly modern student culture. The university is considered one of the top universities for sports in the UK.
Team
Stirling is the location of the Scottish Navigator office. There is a team of Navigators operating here in different national and local capacities. The student ministry is led by Michael a Stirling University graduate himself who is passionate about seeing the lives of students transformed by a relationship with Jesus. The student ministry is part of the Stirling City Collective whose aim is to see the vision of discipleship, (or alongsiding) spread throughout the area through individuals and churches. Alongside Michael each year we have a couple of Navigator ‘Connect’ interns from the UK. Stirling is a great place to learn together what it means to make disciples in all of life.
Serve
The student ministry has grown in recent years and we currently have 70-80 students involved in our weekly small group Bible studies. Culture here is changing. The University of Stirling has seen consistent growth in student numbers, alongside a growing international population and a strong campus identity. Students here are increasingly open to meaningful conversations around identity, purpose, mental health, and faith. While many have little or no church background, there is a genuine hunger for authenticity, community, and meaning. Scotland is often described as “post-Christian” or secular, but that label misses an important reality. In Stirling, there are many students who are not resistant, they are curious, unchurched, and open. What they respond to is not pressure or programs, but patient, relational witnesses who engage with honesty, respect, and lived faith. Interested? Come and see what God can do!
